Nebraska Press Association Student Photo Competition

The Nebraska Press Association conference was held this weekend in Lincoln, NE.  Myself and other students from UNL, UNO and Hastings College competed in an afternoon of feature hunting.  We had about two hours to spend looking for features. We then came back and sent in our top 3-5 images to be judged.  Omaha World-Herald Director of Photography Jeff Bundy, Omaha World-Herald staff photographer Matt Miller and Omaha World-Herald Managing Editor for Digital Development Jeff Carney were the judges.

I spent my time looking for ways to take advantage of the beautiful weather.  I started as Oak Lake Park, where the first three photos were made.  Then I stumbled into a neighborhood around 11th and B St.  There, I found a group of friends playing on their swing on a tree in their front yard.

The next day, at a lunch hosted by the NPA, I was honored to receive the runner up award for the competition.  Congratulations to Andrew Dickinson for getting first!
